Biography

Lt. Col. Thileepan alias Rasaiah Parthipan is a renowned Tamil martyr.

He was born on 27.11.1963 in the town of Oorelu within the district of Jaffna.

He was also a medical student at Jaffna University’s faculty of medicine.

Lt. Col. Thileepan joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in 1983.

He advocated women’s liberation and social revolution as per the insights and vision of the national leader of Tamil Eelam.

The Indian Peace – Keeping Forces (IPKF) landed on the island in 1987 under the guise of engaging in a peace process.

The IPKF and the Sri Lankan government joined forces to conspire against the Eelam Tamils.

During this period, Lt. Col. Thileepan was the political head of the Jaffna district.

The Indo – Sri Lankan Accord was not implemented. 

Comprehending the political significance of such a protest, Lt. Col. Thileepan willingly volunteered to engage in a hunger strike at the mere age of 23.

He undertook a hunger strike for 12 days without consuming food or water.
